The Hand of Fatima, or Hamsa, is a culturally very significant motif. It is said in a hadith that the Prophet (peace be upon him) told his daughter Fatima that the best way to sabih (give thanks to God) is not through rosary beads, but through using our fingers to mark the count.
The diamond set in the centre and the engine-turn are designed to evoke traditional henna patterns.
